Community Calendar July 4th

New Madison, Ft. Black Masonic Temple July 4th Pancake Breakfast:  Friday, July 4th, 7 – 11 AM, at the Masonic Temple in New Madison will be their all you can eat breakfast.  Adults, $6.00 and Child, $3.00 and open to the public.

Ansonia 4th of July Celebration Events:  The Village of Ansonia will be celebrating the 4th with a weekend of activities.  Softball tournaments all weekend, Saturday: parade, Chicken BBQ, Cornhole, bingo, fireworks at dusk and Sunday: Alice Jones Band, bingo and cornhole.  Come enjoy a great weekend.

Cancer Association Annual Chicken & Pork Chop BBQ:  Saturday, July 5th at the Greenville Park Shelter #3 from 11 – 1.  Drive up service and picnic table available.  Tickets are $6.00 each and can be purchased at the Cancer Office of any board member.  Pre sale recommended and all proceeds to benefit cancer patients in Darke County.  For more information call 548-9960.

New Beginning Church of God Bake Sale:  Saturday, July 5th, 9 – 3 the Willing Workers will hold a Bake Sale at Wal-Mart, Greenville.  Proceeds to reach out to the community in various ways.

Annie Oakley Senior Bingo & Breakfast:  Tickets are now available for anyone interested in the Senior Bingo & Breakfast being held at the Youth building at the fair grounds on Friday, July 25th beginning at 9am.  Tickets are $6.00 each and include a weekend gate pass.  For good eats and a lot of fun, join in.   For ticket info call 548-8511 or 548-9090.

OSU Alumni Club of Darke County “Make a Difference Month”:  Now thru July 14th, OSU Alumni will be accepting videos, CD’s and DVD’s to be given to the V.A. Hospital to help give our veterans some enjoyment. Spring clean and help us help those who have given much for all of us.  Call 547-2050, 548-1916 or drop them in the marked drop box at the YMCA on Wagner.

Versailles Christian Church Flood Assistance:  Now thru July 27 the Church will be accepting financial donations to assist 2 families in Cedar Rapids, Iowa who lost everything due to the flood.  For more information contact the church office 526-4194.

Greenville Grace Church Vacation Bible School:  July 7 thru July 11, from 7 – 9PM each evening come and explore the “Hidden Things”.  The church is located on St. Rte 49 South.  For more information call 547-0065.

PlayStation 3 Darke County Blood Drive:

Tuesday – July 8th – 1 – 7PM at the Greenville Church of the Brethren, Central Ave., Greenville and sponsored by Greenville Education Association.  The PlayStation Promotion only runs from July 7 – 12 and anyone who registers to donate blood at any blood drive or branch location during this time are entered to win.  Open to the Community and for more information call 997-2199.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs:  July 9, &16 from 8:30 – 11:30am at Wayne Lakes, just off St. Rte 121 will be a FREE class for ages 5 – 15, registration is 8 – 8:30 and all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the program.  Equipment available but please bring your own if you have it.  For more information call 678-7864.

Flood Relief Urgent Request:  Now thru Thursday, July 10th at 5pm, the community churches, business and organizations are asking for much needed supplies for cleaning after the floods in Illinois.  All supplies, such as bleach, detergent, Lysol, cleaning towels, etc., must be dropped off at the First United Methodist Church, corner of 4th & Sycamore, Greenville.  If you need more information and supplies needed please call 548-3075.

Mendy Trissel Benefit Concert:  Friday, July 11th, 7 – 9PM at the Trinity Wesleyan Church, Main St., Greenville, will be a benefit concert for the family of Mendy Trissel to help relieve financial pressure on her family who are attempting to cover her hospital bills, medical bills and funeral expenses.  Featured will be the Mariners Quartet, His Voice Through Us, Rev. Peter Menke, Dr. John Studebaker, Melody Line and the Clay’s.  A free will offering will be taken during the concert or you can send donations to the Mendy Trissel Memorial Fund at the Greenville National Bank.

“A Taste of Heaven” Community Dinner:  Friday, July 11th starting at 5Pm at the Greenville First Assembly of God, St. Rte 118, Greenville.  Baked chicken, sides, desert & beverage, adults - $5.00, children 4-10, $3.00 and under 3, free.  Carry out available for $1.00 extra.  For information call 548-5445.

Greenville Single Social:  Friday, July 11th, 7 – 11PM at the V.F.W., Ohio St., Greenville, will be a singles social.  Cost is $6.00 and must be 21 or over. Bring your best desserts for the auction at 9 plus other activities throughout the evening.

Prayer Workshop:  Saturday, July 12th from 10am – 3pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Oak St., Union City, IN.  This is the first in a series of four Prayer Workshops as part of Transform-Unity.  Open to the public and free of charge.  For registration and information call 765-964-4792.

Senior Advocate Scholarship Fund: Saturday, July 12th, 4 – 7PM at the Greenville Park Pavilion will be “Picnic in the Park”:  to help in funding the teen scholarship program for journalism.  Games for children (and those young at heart), food available for sale and entertainment will be Azure Blue at 6PM.  Everyone welcome.

Ansonia Memorial V.F.W. #4497 Breakfast:  Saturday, July 12th, 6am until noon there will be an all you can eat breakfast at the Legion Hall.  $6.00 each and kids 6 & under free.  Everyone welcome.

Darke County Singles Summer Picnic & Dance:  Saturday, July 12th with the carry-in starting at 7:30 and the dance at 8:30 until midnight at the V.F.W. Hall, Ohio St., Greenville.  Music by “Country Classic” and admission charge is $5.00/ for information call 968-5007 or 901-3969.

Your Pet Can Be A Star:  Now until July 14th the Darke Country Friends of the Shelter will be accepting special photos of only your pet for the 2009 calendars.  Enter your pet to become a star.  Digital or photo’s accepted and becomes the property of the Darke County Friends of the Shelter and will not be returned.  An Entry form and photo release form will be available at the shelter.

Darke County Park District:  The Board of Commissioners will hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, July 14th at 7:30am at the Nature Center, St Rte 502, Greenville.  Meeting to approve 2009 Park District tax.
